This is the Murkiest Transparency *I’ve* Ever Seen

President-elect Obama has yet to even take office and already he’s backtracked on numerous campaign promises. With this week’s arrest of Obama ally and Illinois governor, “Hot” Rod Blagojevich, we see ample evidence that Mr. Obama has no intention of having a “transparent” administration, a promise he trumpeted loudly on the campaign trail. Let’s refresh our memories on these promises:

“But when I talk about change, it’s not simply policies, it’s also a change in leadership. And what, right now, the American people are desperate for is a president that they can trust, who’s going to promote accountability and transparency in our government…and that’s the kind of leadership I’m providing…” (CBS’ “Face The Nation,” 12/23/07)

“Well, I think actions do speak louder than words, which is why over the 20 years of my public service I have acted … to make sure that we create transparency in our government…” (Sen. Barack Obama, CNN Democrat Presidential Debate, Austin, TX, 2/21/08)

“Here’s how I can encourage people to be involved. Number one, it means transparency in our government.” (CNN’s “Ballot Bowl,” 3/15/08)

Fast forward to this past week. Hot Rod was arrested on charges he solicited monetary offers in exchange for “selling” Obama’s vacant Senate seat. Obama claims that neither he nor his staff have discussed the seat with Blago or his staff. Except for, as it turns out, one Rahm Emanuel delivered to the Governor’s office a least of candidates acceptable to the president-elect.

ABC’s Jake Tapper Said “In Order To Be Truly Transparent,” The Obama Administration Must Disclose Any Role It May Have Had In The Blagojevich Scandal. “On its website, President-elect Obama’s Transition Team is making a big deal about transparency, posting memos and information about meetings with various, largely supportive organizations. True transparency means a little more than that, one might posit. It means telling voters about matters that aren’t entirely comfortable to share. And that would mean that in order to truly be transparent, the American people need to find out as much as possible, as soon as possible, about what role anyone Team Obama played in any of the various shenanigans Gov. Blagojevich is accused of committing — or any others we don’t yet know about.” (Jake Tapper, “Obama’s Answer On Blagojevich — And The Questions It Raises,” ABC’s “Political Punch” Blog,www.abc.com, 12/9/08)

The RNC has helpfully put together a video detailing the long, close relationship between Blagobama:

Either Obama is the most clueless man ever (isn’t he some sort of mega brazilliant Harvard grad?) or he’s just a big, fat liar. Judging by the company he keeps (Blago, Rezko, Khalidi, Ayers, and, oh, how the list goes on and on), it is not a great leap of logic to deduce that our incoming president is a man of poor judgment who has a propensity for telling untruths. Status quObama: more of the same old, same old Washington.

DEMOCRAT Gov. Rod Blagojevich Arrested

jackass-seal2

Yes, please let us make that clear. Gov. Blago of Illinois, arrested on federal corruption charges, is a DEMOCRAT. Many MSM media outlets could not seem to find room in their coverage to mention that inconvenient truth, so I want all readers to be clear that Blagojevich is a DEMOCRAT. Oh, and Gov. Blagojevich’s Chief of Staff, John Harris, was also arrested. Mr. Harris, too, is a DEMOCRAT. They are truly the party of jackasses.

Mumbai Atrocities

mumbai

Gateway Pundit has two very disturbing stories about victims of the terrorists in Mumbai. The first story chronicles the gruesome scene at Chabad House, where the Jewish victims were apparently tortured before being murdered. Two of the victims, Rivka and Gavriel Holtzberg, were a vibrant, well-loved couple who leave behind a toddler son, Moishe. To read more about Rivka and Gavriel and their last Shabbat, check out this article at The Jerusalem Post.

Gateway Pundit also relates the story of Lynne and Kenneth Shaw, British tourists who were dining at a restaurant at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel when the siege started. The couple were led by restaurant staff to a corridor, where they took refuge. Unfortunately, cable news network CNN began broadcasting information on the whereabouts of those who were hiding in the Taj. The terrorists, having access to CNN, then knew where to find those hiding. Thus, CNN put many people in jeopardy with their carelessness. Thankfully, the Shaws were rescued and are now safe at home in the U.K. They are quite understandably distressed at the role CNN played in compromising their safety.

Planned Parenthood Takes It to a New Low

Attention, Christmas shoppers! Are you looking for that perfect gift for the lady in your life? Well, Planned Parenthood of Indiana has the solution: a gift certificate for any of PPIN’s “services.” That’s right; give the gift of abortion this Christmas. Gee, what a great stocking stuff.

The idea of a gift certificate for such “services” is ridiculous in and of itself, but for Planned Parenthood of Indiana to attach this “gift” to the Christian holiday of Christmas (the birth of Christ!) is crass at best and wrong on so, so many levels. What we have here is one in a long line of examples of liberal disrespect and intolerance for Christian beliefs.

Seriously, Does *Anyone* Like Rosie?

Judging by the numbers her Thanksgiving Eve special drew, not a lot of people do, in fact, enjoy the work of Ms. O’Donnell. And for good reason. She’s an utter hypocrite (remember that whole “you shouldn’t be able to have guns, but my bodyguards should” bull?) who is rather unfunny and one dimensional. Only the nitwits at NBC would think to showcase her lack of talent. But there is one thing funny about Ro, and it comes to us courtesy of Amy Proctor’s blog, Bottom Line Up Front

Happy Thanksgiving 2008

thanksgiving

October 3, 1863

The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies.  To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God.  In the midst of a civil war of unequalled magnitude and severity, which has sometimes seemed to foreign States to invite and to provoke their aggression, peace has been preserved with all nations, order has been maintained, the laws have been respected and obeyed, and harmony has prevailed everywhere except in the theatre of military conflict; while that theatre has been greatly contracted by the advancing armies and navies of the Union.  Needful diversions of wealth and of strength from the fields of peaceful industry to the national defence, have not arrested the plough, the shuttle, or the ship; the axe had enlarged the borders of our settlements, and the mines, as well of iron and coal as of the precious metals, have yielded even more abundantly than heretofore.  Population has steadily increased, notwithstanding the waste that has been made in the camp, the siege and the battle-field; and the country, rejoicing in the consciousness of augmented strength and vigor, is permitted to expect continuance of years, with large increase of freedom.

No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things.  They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy.

It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and voice by the whole American people.  I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens.   And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings, they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to his tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquillity and Union.

In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand, and caused the seal of the United States to be affixed.

Done at the city of Washington, this third day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, and of the independence of the United States the eighty-eighth.

A. Lincoln
